Favorite show + Favorite Movie

Somewhere around my 100th viewing of my favorite movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spidervse, I realized Spider-Man is a lot like the hero of my favorite TV Show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. And I’ve always wanted there to be an animated series of Buffy in some form.

So I thought it’d be cool to rework that incredible intro from Spiderverse to match Buffy. I recently learned that centering my self improvement around Buffy keeps me motivated (as is evidenced from my Buffy Art project). So I decided to take this on as a means to improve my animation skills.

First, I laid out the sequence from Spiderverse, then selected shots from all seven seasons of Buffy as a reference for what I wanted to animate. Then I rewrote the script to match Buffy’s storyline. After I found the perfect VO artist and laid down the edit, I hit Logic and rewrote the score to incorporate various Motifs from Buffy.

Once that was all set and edited, all the was left to do was … animate everything. I learned a metric ton in the two months this whole thing took (mostly nights and weekends) and I’m hoping to do more things like this down the line.
